The members of the Class of 2016 will soon be receiving a mailing regarding a new Illinois Department of Public Health mandate that will be in effect for next school year. All seniors must show proof of having received two meningitis vaccines, or one vaccine if the first dose was received after age sixteen. The majority of our students received an initial vaccine upon entry into high school and now must receive a second vaccine to be in compliance with the new state law. A copy of your student’s vaccine record will be mailed for your review. The Meningococcal vaccine is recorded in the last box of the physical under “Other/ Specify.”
As a convenience to our students and their families, we have teamed with the Health Center at St. Xavier University to offer the vaccine at Brother Rice. You are welcome to receive the vaccine from your own provider, but seniors must show compliance with this mandate before school resumes in August, 2015.
